I found this historical western romance different from the others I've read. The storyline held my attention with every page. A second book detailing where they are now at a later date would also be a good read. One of the stories I read was a series of 23 books. All of which kept my interest. The storylines started in this book could easily be made into a multi series of books
Women building a town .That sure was interesting. I think Jessica fell in love a little to quickly. It needed to sneak up on them both.
I enjoyed this story.. some times we all want to go west and build a town where we can live as we like. It is a bit like Christmas every day. It sounds good but growth can't come t g at way.
Wow. This is a great love story that deals with grief and healing. It was written very well. Starts with utopia of small town, or private property, that consists of runaway orphans and few caretakers. There are some nefarious men go by place to cause trouble but heroine is able stop them. Unfortunately their friends are not far behind and pose further danger to the town. Around same town the hero comes by town for shelter. He has moved away to start fresh and try live again. He had been searching for year for the men that killed his family. He has not given up but is also aware he is alive and wants to be able to move try and make a life for himself again. The heroine is just trying to protect herself and those she loves, however danger has literally fallen on her doorsteps. Thankfully the hero and his posse are ready for when the past and present collide! The men are going to make sure nothing harms their loved ones again.
Normally I hate reading books that deal with loss of spouse because there is fine line btwn moving on and dwelling. However, this book did an exemptional job with showing the hero express his feelings and resilient to work towards rebuilding his life after such huge loss.
It was beautiful how the hero courts the heroine and is honest with her thoughout the book. I love it when there is open communication btwn the characters to avoid unnecessary conflict and help built healthy relationship in the process.
The heroine was more guarded due to her own trauma but with the hero's unrelating admiration and sweet demeanor she was finally able to let herself care for someone. It was cute how much she saught the hero out as their relationship developed. I think that also helped hero heal since he was reminded of here and now, and reassured she wanted him too. He was so sweet in every interaction with her and so supportive.
The events that transpire throughout the story allowed for the climax of the story to end well in a town shoot out. Nicely done I might say. The ending was good in that the hero got revenge and compensation for his loss. This is later important for their future, which is noted in the epilogue.
I highly recommend this sweet love story. It is a clean read but has enough scenes to show great chemistry these two have together. The secondary characters added greatly to the story. The humor gave it some comic relief and balanced out drama in the story. Such enjoyable read. Give it 5 stars.

Loved the twist and turns in this book. One of my favorites from this series. Anyone can start over from pain and lost.
